Description of Danio Rerio

Postby Charli05 » 18 Feb 2019, 01:16

The Danio Rerio is a kind of cyprinid related to tufts and barbs, which, like the mammal from which it takes its name, is totally black and white striped, therefore it serves as camouflage to mix with marine fauna; From black and white they seem to turn gray, especially at a certain distance or with little lighting.

It is a Zebrafish model or fish of cardumen and one of the most resistant species and perhaps, the fish easier to breed among the oviparous.
There are different varieties available in the market such as the vein fin variety (very developed fins) or the leopard variety (blue specks). There is another variety with which this species called Brachydanio Frankei is often reproduced on which the authors are not agreed upon whether or not it is a different species or a variety of Danio.
