Ever use the machines in the stores?

Postby LoriL » 21 Mar 2010, 04:38

I love to grind my own coffee beans into coffee when I'm at the store (grocery store). My daughter does too. One time we made such a mess, she was grinding and did way too many and we had coffee all over the floor.

Do you like to use those machines?

Yes, it gives me kinda nice feeling when grinding coffee in the store. But that's only when I'm in a good mood and don't have to hurry to some other places :-)

I love those machines. I like when the aroma fills the isle and I love the sound of the beans grinding and resonating throughout the store.

You can save a lot on coffee by grinding it yourself, as well. The finer the grind, the less coffee you need to make a pot. When I buy a bag of gourmet coffee, I know make sure to do extra fine grind and I can get a full pot from only two scoops of coffee. That stretches the coffee so it's reasonable to keep buying the expensive bags.

I too love the smell of the aisle when someone is grinding coffee. I can grind it at home too? I don't have a grinder but I would love to get one. Want to recommend me one?

I don't have a home grinder yet but am thinking of getting one, too. My friend grinds hers at home, just enough for a pot at a time, and her coffee is always fantastic. She says that the coffee starts losing flavor after you grind it so you should always grind it as you go. I'll have to ask her what brand her grinder is.

That does make sense that the coffee could lose the flavor. I can't wait to get a grinder for home and try it out. I bet it will be better because it will be fresh!

I am honestly horrible with the machines as I have yet to get one that likes me. Maybe I just have bad luck or something, I have yet to not make a mess. =))

:)) I have seen others make a mess in the stores and I chuckle at them. My daughter makes a big mess a lot too. I always think about the time that we made the Huge mess when we first learned how to use the machine.

I have never tried it at the store because I am scared of being the one making the huge mess LOL. Machines aren't usually my thing.

I've never used one either. I don't like trying new gadgets where someone might see me make a huge boo-boo. :ymblushing: I do love the smell from the aisle though, as others mentioned. It's so good!

I only tried to use the one in the store one time. I made a BIG mess so I went and purchased a nice grinder for my home. That way I didn't have to be embarrassed at the store anymore. Unfortunately the grinder hasn't been used in about a year as I do not have the space for a coffee maker, but getting a new home next year so pretty excited!

I grind my coffee at the store. To me, it makes the coffee fresher tasting. Since I'm not a huge coffee drinking, I divide my ground coffee in small Ziploc bags and then place them in the freezer until I'm ready to make a pot.
