Coffee Brands

Postby jennyffer777 » 20 Jan 2010, 01:21

Hi guys! Not sure if this is the right place to post my topic, however I'll try. I'd like to talk to you about coffee brands in general. I mean how many world-wide coffee you know and how many of them you have already tried or would like to taste one day? I like Illy coffee a lot and prefer it to various US coffees though I am a patriot :-) And what about you?

My perfect cup of coffee was and still is Maxwell House. Though many consider it lost its reputation of a high quality coffee, I don't agree and continue brewing it every day of my life (except those days when I brew my yemeni mocha ;) ).

I'm loyal to Finish Paulig coffee, classic blend. It's a medium roast smooth Arabica.
I do try other cofffees from time to time, but usually return to my favourite one.

I have to say I really like Dunkin Donuts coffee the best. I can get it in the store in my city now so that is good because there are none where I live. Starbucks is a close second, I really like their Pike Place Roast, it is robust and flavorful.

I think I love just about any brand as long as I can still somehow make it my own. I know so many people who are coffee nazi's almost where it can be nothing but black, no sugar, no nothing. I need to be able to have something beside "bitter" in my coffee, otherwise its not nearly as good.

I am glad to know I am not the only one that loves Dunkin Donuts coffee. I like it because it's so smooth and not too strong.

I'm a fan of Dunkin Donuts too and now my local grocery store sells it there too! I'm in heaven! I can brew my own at home. I get coffee for the holidays! I get gift cards to Dunkin Donuts too!

Does anyone know of any good foreign brands? I am trying to branch out from the American brands I tend to enjoy so any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Hi Beanz! I know a lot of Euroepan brands since I' m from Europe :-) Not sure if those are sold in your country but here they are:
Helmut Sachers - an excellent Austrian coffee brand.
Jacqmotte - a coffee brand of a Belge origin. They make sense not only of chocolate ;)
Bewleys - an Irish coffee. taste it, you won't be disappointed!
Vergnano - is really good and really Italian.

I think those four are enough for you, just have to find them somewhere. Maybe on the web??

This is a premium coffee at 40 dollars a pound and I usually only buy premium coffees as the occasional treat. Well, this is an excellent treat when I have the $$$. Very well rounded flavor, very smooth to drink, even out of a standard drip machine. The taste is consistent cup to cup, and the coffee has an excellent feel. You get the option of medium and dark roasts, but I usually only drink dark coffees. The company describes the taste as complex, I would agree. Has an excellent smell (how I love the smell of coffee) and moderate acidity.

I give this one an A !
