How far does coffee date?

Coffee dates back to the 13th century, though its origins are not clear as such. It can be traced to the Ethiopian ancestors of the Oromo people who discovered its stimulant effect. The traces are of course from Africa from where it spread to Egypt, Yemen, Arabia and other parts of the world. I had no idea this beverage dates back this far.

Or even further the recorded history. Many indigenous tribes have been using herbs and plants long before it was discovered and recorded by Europeans. I wonder if the Romans had coffee when they were still an empire.

As far as I know, coffee dates back to the tenth century to parts of Africa where it was processed from native berries and beans.

I think, it might date even further but we won't know it, since there are no records about coffee so far.
