Kids and Coffee

Would you/do you let your children drink coffee? I have a twelve year old daughter and I don't mind letting her have a cup from time to time, although it's not something I'd want her to drink really often. But then again, I guess it's not any worse than soda.

So what about you and your kids?

My children are under the age of 5 so I do not allow them to drink my coffee or soda for that matter. As they get older (maybe 14 or 15) I may let them try it. I didn't start drinking it until I was in my 20's.

When I have children, I will allow them drink coffee in very small quantities and when they are 12-14 years old, at least. I would be a bad and severe mother :d

Well.. Being a strict mother is not necessarily bad :)
I wouldn't let my kids drink coffee too because kids have to much destructive energy :) Coffee would make them just unbearable! :D

I do not and would not let my kids drink coffee. It is not necessary for them and they definitely do not need the extra energy! Our neighbors do let their child drink coffee and their child is very hyper.

I think the stunting growth idea is a myth, though I haven't researched it a lot. I've never been a parent, so maybe the caffeine boost would be annoying to deal with. But my mum started letting me drink coffee when I turned twelve, and she's going to do the same for my little sister. No problems so far. :) Except that my sister's jealous, of course.

Well, you could always give your kids a substitute for coffee - a harmless one, of course. ;)
As for me,I never felt like I wanted to drink coffee till I turned 15 y.o. And even then I took it in moderate amounts

I wouldn't let my children near coffee until they reach 15 or 16.

I think that children shouldn't be allowed to learn the sins of aduts until they grow up - and then they will decide for themselves.

Coffee is not good for kids below 14. It won't cause immediate trouble, but in long run it could. Hence, it's always better to avoid.
