Antioxidants

Coffee is rich in antioxidants which are really good for you. However, some of us need to have less caffeine for health reasons or just because it keeps us up at night. If I drink regular coffee after noon, it will keep me up so I switch to decaf. Does the decaffeination process remove any of the antioxidants?

I know little about the antioxidants in the decaf beans but I know for sure those antiox-s are almost totally killed while roasting the beans. So you have no chance in any case....Sorry :-(

Hi JavaJane! And welcome aboard!
I think you can drink decaf only after noon and all other time drink your regular cup! Like it?? ;)

Paulina12,

I think you are wrong about the roasting destroying the antioxidants. Studies have actually shown roasting to increase the antioxidants in coffee. Take a look at the studies and research shown at http://www.cosic.org/coffee-and-health/antioxidants. I just can't seem to find any information on what the decaffeination process might do to the nutritional content.

I never really knew about this, wow kind of a shocker really after all the years I have been drinking. I am going to need to study up a tad more, maybe cut down the caffeine part but continue drinking if I can.

Eh Janeeeee! Are we related? =))

I am glad you replied to the roasting destroying oxidants post. I have read that a cup or two of brewed coffee does wonders to our bodies.
