I've heard that caffeine has diuretic properties and that drinking coffee ends up making you have a shortage of water because of this, if you don't drink enough water in between.

Yes, coffee is a diuretic; but you'd have to drink no water to get dehydrated. I mean, it can't be the only thing you drink, you need to flush out your kidneys with water.

Coffee is a mild diuretic, so one can safely assume that decaf is even milder, as it is thought to be a result of high caffeine intake. To everyone who doesn’t know what diuretics are, diuretics are substances that increase the rate of urination. This causes you have to pee more throughout the day. It can also help eliminate toxins through the urine.

Yes, it could work as diuretic if you drink a lot.
As for the water, I do feel sometimes I have to drink some after I had my cup of coffee

Water is the most powerful diuretic for me, especially, if I buy it in large amounts. ;)

If you drink it too often, of course it will act as a diuretic, I think it's obvious ;)

Any liquid would work as a diuretic if you drink tons of it.
