The coffee headache

I love coffee (of course) and I rarely go more than a few hours without some. Recently I went away for a company retreat and was aghast to find it was also some kind of 'health' weekend. There was no coffee available at all and within one day I had a terrible headache. Does this happen to anyone else if you are deprived?

My son tried to do without coffee after being told it was a drug. At the end of the 2nd day he had a headache. It's called withdrawal. It got worse before it got better and lasted a good 4-5 days.

Hello Nina Maxwell and MakeitBlack! Welcome!
It's possible that coffee was a kind of a weakness for you and it gave you some substances which you got used to, that's why it was a little bit complicated to remain without it - but I don't think it's a big problem and if you stop drink it at all, you'll get used to :-)

Thanks for the welcome Jenny. I was nearly insane after two days of no coffee. I enjoy it too much to quit so hopefully I never have to have those feelings again. (Just in case, from now I will travel with some coffee bags!). Makeitblack is your son still off it?

I once bought de-caf by mistake, and wondered why I was suffering from headaches. It was not until I visited the doctor (thinking there was something really wrong) was I aware that it was the lack of caffiene giving me the headaches.

Yes, I definitely get the "no coffee headache"; however, I've also found that a cup of coffee helps a regular headache too for some reason. Even if I've had my normal amount of coffee, it helps to drink another cup if my head hurts.
