The Coffee Business

So I love everything about coffee. At one time I wanted to open my own coffee shop. I was told time and time again that with Starbucks and Pete’s there is too much competition in order to actually make it in the coffee business. I would like to know what other coffee lovers think.

It will be very difficult, but there is nothing possible. All you need are:
- very good advertizing!!!!!!!!!!!!! the most important point
- qualitative and various coffee
- and the low prices.

GOOD LUCK ~o)

I think there's nothing to lose for asking! BUT! You should research your area of living, analyze buying attitude and see if no one's around, like Starbucks or Peet's, for example. Good Luck to you, however!

I soooo want to open a coffee shop too! But I have the same concerns. What I was thinking was if I had a gimmick of some sort, I might be able to compete. What about a "green" coffee shop - powered with solar panels, roof garden for energy efficiency - that sort of thing.

If you think much about competition then you will be discouraged. You can start a coffee shop as long as there is not much competition in the place. Find a place where you know lots of people drink coffee and make sure that you provide them with a good-tasting coffee.

The idea is good, CoffeeJunkie but you'll need a large amount to make your wish come true and no one knows when you actually get your money back and start even gain profit from that business.

I would love to have my own coffee shop business. In fact, it is on my bucket list! Entrepreneurs say that a successful business comes from doing something that you have a connection with. I feel like having a cafe fits my interest and personality. However, starting a business is not as easy as a pie. Coffee shops are popping out like mushrooms, so a feasibility study is needed. The coffee shop should have something new to offer.

The key to success is Location - In the Specialty Coffee Industry, location is the key to your success. 75% of your Success is determined by your location. So, first thing you should plan for is the best location for your business. All the best mate! :)

I agree that the location is the key, among others. If you open a coffee shop in a highly populated area, even if there are dozens of other stores around, you'll have your clients. And if you open it in a small town with a couple other competitors available, you will probably become bankrupt soon.
