I love my coffee press

Or to use it's French name, my cafetiere! :x I like it because coffee is fresh each time and it's so much easier to clean than a machine. It's perfect for the morning when you want a good cup of coffee, quickly.

Well, I know cafetiere does have its adherents but I think it doesn't prepare my coffee as \i would like it be. But that's just a matter of preference ;)

Cafe presses are easy to prepare and clean! My parents use one, but I still use a regular machine. I've never figured out how to keep from getting so many grounds in my coffee with a cafe press, so I haven't made the switch yet.

Jennyffer, I love your avatar. :d Macoffee, I had the problem of getting grinds in the coffee but it was caused by a faulty lid. I sometimes think of buying a regular machine but I like the freshness of just brewed coffee.

I love my French press to prepare coffee. I think it gives the coffee a cleaner taste- at least in my mind. I bought mine from Starbucks and have no had a problem with the grounds coming out. I do press it down slowly.

MaCoffee- are you pressing it down fast?

Dixie06, I got my coffee press from Starbucks too! It was quite expensive I thought, but the quality is obvious. You do need to make sure you give the lid a good wash quite often, to avoid a build up of coffee sludge!

I've never liked French press coffee makers mainly because they are hard to use and they don't keep the coffee warm long enough. Then again I find the drip style coffee makers make a decent cup without any major cleanup or hassles.

MoffeeCoff, one of the reasons that you might get more flavor from a French press is that the coffee is steeped like tea for a few minutes. With drip coffee, the water flows through the grinds quickly. You really should try it, but remember you need a coarse grind. If it's not your thing, you can always go back to drip coffee.

The French Press coffee is definitely more bodied than the coffee maker coffee (and more flavorful).

I have been roasting, grinding, and using a French press for over 20 years and nothing beats the flavor of fresh coffee brewed within 3 days of roasting and NOT pre-ground. I do not see any quality/flavor advantage to Kurig-type brewing with "pods" of pre packaged old ground coffee. And I refuse to be taken in by the popularity of Starbucks' over-roasted beans. Just roast quality beans until just at second crack and your good to go---no need to roast until they smell of burnt rubber... ~x(

A perfect start for our day is to have a cup of hot and fresh coffee. Because of coffee machines we can easily prepare coffee and drink it. The cleaning process also easy.

Heck yeah, the French press is awesome. I own so many coffee makers and I still come back to my ol' faithful press at least once a week :-)
