Card, plastic or tin?

We had a debate with my friends on best packaging type for coffee: card pack, plastic or tin?

I personally think that coffee is best kept in a tin which you can close tight and that prevents it from loosing aroma quickly. However some think that tin can react with coffee thus ruining the taste and quality... I had all C for chemistry at school, so I'm not an expert here.. :-??

What do you guys think?

Hi ginga! Nice question :-) I was bad at chemistry as well, so cannot state whether one of the ways of storing coffee is better than the other. I'm a simple coffee lover, so I like them all when I know that coffee inside the package tastes well and brings me joy...

I think card pack is the best packaging for coffee - in my opinion, coffee may react with tin or plastic which are not as healthy as a card can be. So it would be better to keep coffee in card packs. That's my opinion.

Everythind is bad.
The most important is not to allow coffee to heat up or cool down..,
...and not to keep it under the sunlight #:-S

LOL

To the topic: As far as I know, tins are environmentally friendly and protect coffee better, so that's what I usually choose.
Here's what I found about storing: http://blog.seattlecoffeeworks.com/blog/2010/04/22/keep-it-fresh-the-great-packaging-experiment-results/

I have recently read an article which convinced me again that card is the best packing for coffee and helps storing its best qualities for more. No tin or plastic as these substances are able to react with coffee, filling it with undesirable harmful components..

Does it have to be one of those three? How about stoneware? I have a stoneware crock in which I keep coffee. It has a lid with a gasket and latch that makes it seal air-tight.

I like the stoneware crock idea, after all airtight has got to be good, right? I usually keep my coffee in the freezer. I don't remember exactly why but was brought up to believe this was the best way to keep it fresh. Is this a bad idea?

I like glass packaging best of all - it is natural and preserves coffee well :)

I prefer card for home use, and tin if taken with me.
